Time travellers where are you?

Recommended Posts

Michael Janks

I am an avid believer that Time Travel is indeed possible.

My belief is that:

1. One is able to travel forward in time and therefore change time as it has not yet happened. 2. One is able to travel back in time BUT!!! one may only observe the past and not change it, as it has already happened.

One thing I do question is the fact that should time travel be invented sometime in the future,

Then why have we not seen any time travelers that have traveled back to our time from the future? ;)

We already have 2. It's called recorded video.

We also have a device that can view history.

My question to you would be, what criteria would you use to identify someone as a time traveler?

The world's population is up to 7 billion now. Do you think they all came from this era? That's a lot of baby-making!

Hello Janks

I shall try to offer yet another crazy answer, like the ones of my predecessors in this thread. You ask yourself why haven't we seen any time travelers yet. Well there might be two interesting answers.

1. The people of Earth might never invent time travel as it is, thus there would be no time travelers jumping back to our time.

2. If time travel is indeed invented somewhen in our past or future we have to ponder one really important aspect of time. Why would they choose our time? They will choose 2012 because this is the present? To them 2012 will be yet another number along the lines of chronology. It would mean exactly what it means to us the year 623 AD. Nothing. Nonetheless, 623AD is the present time for those actually experiencing that temporal region.

So we might not see time travelers in our time because they might be more interested in other times. However, there is another even more horrifying concept to ponder. Do you know who the Aterians were, probably not. Thats because their oldest city existed about 42,000 years ago!!!! Despite their advancement and eventual disappearance we still managed to evolve and get our technology.

Imagine that after today 42,000 years come by us really quick. Most of the history will be lost and the people of that future period will be more interested in things concerning their time-zones.

So maybe we do not see time travelers because we are just as old as the ancient cultures and not as exciting as we all think ourselves to be.

However, if we ever manage to build a time machine, they would have rules and regulations concerning temporal travel. So Time travelers might be among us and we would never know, who knows they could be anyone.

Time is a man made ideal. From harvests and the solar pattern to some people inventing a metric time. Forget night and day, forget the earths count of spins around the sun, and think what time actually is. It is simply the passing of moments. One thing was there, and later it is in a different position to everthing else, or even a differnt shape. If you imagine the expanse of the universe, you could judge time and place of objects. If you wanted to be somewhere or when, it would just be a case of going back or forward fast or slowly enough to be there. Astronauts of this time lose minutes when they come back to land. it would be just that but on a bigger scale. I don't think you could walk around your city now and be able to tell who was a tourist or not. Everything we need to know is in plain view, theres nothing new, a bit like Newton looking at apples falling!

Actually, a better definition than "passing of moments" is merely MATTER IN MOTION. Every single device mankind has ever built to measure Time is defined by MATTER IN MOTION. This is an undeniable fact. And your last sentence above even confirms this. As an engineer, I am familiar with vectors, tensor and their mathematical notations. I use a pseudo vector notation to suggest the following "formula" for time:

TIME = Matter X Motion

All three of these quantities are at least vectors, more generally they are multi-index tensors.

If you imagine the expanse of the universe, you could judge time and place of objects. If you wanted to be somewhere or when, it would just be a case of going back or forward fast or slowly enough to be there.

Not exactly. That is not complete per my above vector equation. To move in Time requires the convolution of both Matter and Motion thru SpaceTime. So you must manipulate Matter and SpaceTime both, and both in the proper relative amounts and manners before you can travel in the dimension of Time.

[quite] Astronauts of this time lose minutes when they come back to land. it would be just that but on a bigger scale.

Yes, but only in an analogical sense. The astronauts are fixed matter, but they are "warping" SpaceTime more than the rest of us because they are traveling at a much higher velocity relative to us on the surface of earth. But warping SpaceTime is only half the equation. You must also "warp" Matter. Another term I use for Matter is MassTime, as Matter is a fabric of Mass per Time just like Velocity is a fabric of Space per Time. Your body is constantly exchanging discrete amounts of Mass over Time (you eat and excrete and your cells' Mass content now is not the same Mass content these cells had when you were young). In order to travel thru Time we not only need high velocities thru SpaceTime fabric, but we need to be able to change the "velocity" equivalent of our MasTime fabric. Accelerating the exchange of Mass per Time and the exchange of Space per Time, in the proper relative proportions.

Michael - you have already answered your question as to why we haven't seen any time travelers yet - since the future has not happen yet, we cannot expect time travelers from the future to arrive as you have pointed out. Until we have invented a time machine, it would physically be inpossible for time travelers to visit us during this time until the time machine is invented. Once the time machine is invented then yes, eventually time travels will visit this time frame.

As I said before the future already occurred.

What we are experiencing is just our present, but is the future people's past and the past people's future. We have to think in such constructs otherwise we will never understand time.

Transient001, yet, I don't think you explained this in such a simple and eloquent way. So basically Predestination is real but it doesn't matter to us because we still act in a Deterministic way.

Friend Thomas, the problem is even more intriguing than predestination. Yes our timeline, when looked on a fourth dimensional way, is a long and winding line composed of a myriad of events. To an observer this would look like a heavy unending tube of spaghetti rolling swirled up into a cohesive tube. To that observer, which would have to be a fifth dimensional being in order to experience physical transcendence in the fourth dimension, every action and reaction are all evident. This would seem that every action is predetermined, yes.

However, taking into account that every point in that timeline is the present of each individual and that they are acting out of the present information they are receiving, one has to say that their actions are not really predetermined but rather the result of each individual's present experience. Although this tends to create the illusion of a concatenate predetermined series of events, in actuality each action in the present is wholly determined by the individual. In a spiritual point of view we could say that the Supreme Divine knows everything because all time has been made manifested in its midst and it can see the collective of all of our decision, but not that something outside of us actually made us decide.

You are correct!!.... A paradox has occurred in my theory..!!!! :)
